Old Poison
Selkie Gin
Selkie Gin:
Selkie is an artisanal gin, handcrafted in small batches.
A London Dry Gin, distilled in Edinburgh with 100% neutral grain spirit.
Selkie uses only premium botanicals that have been carefully selected and sourced, including, liquorice, citrus, coriander seed and angelica.
The Selkie Legend
Hopeless romantics beware. The Selkie (Orcadian dialect for Seal) is an alluring shape shifting creature which resembles a seal in water but assumes the human form on dry land. The graceful Selkie may look astonishingly beautiful, but they can leave you lovesick forever.
Tasting Notes:
NOSE
Resinous juniper laced with a hearty burst of citrus and invigorating spice, a subtle grassiness lingers in the background alongside earthy notes like walking through damp woodland.
PALATE
Juniper led but hugely complex with strong flavour. Bold juniper is forward alongside subtle spice and zesty citrus. Earthy notes are present which contribute to its dryness
FINISH
The finish is strong and dry, juniper led with distinct earthy notes
Perfect Serve:
Best enjoyed with a premium Indian Tonic Water with a slice of fresh pink grapefruit.
The Spirits Hub Review:
Named after the mythical Selkie, an alluring shape shifting sea creature this gin is a London Dry that is super dry and extremely pleasing in its taste.
Made using a combination of juniper, liquorice, citrus, coriander seed and angelica Selkie is packed with flavour and has wonderful balance.
On the nose you are hit with piney juniper, lifting citrus and nose tingling spice.
On the palate resinous juniper is dominant, balanced with a fruity punch of citrus, woody herbal notes and spice.
The finish is long and superbly dry, continuing to be dominated by juniper with those herbal and woody notes in the mix.
The gins dryness and balance make it highly adaptable in the mixing of cocktails
